Alysha Matthews
Hello! My name is Alysha Matthews, and I currently call Greenville, SC home. I plan to graduate with a BA in English and Theatre Arts this coming May. My next academic step will be pursuing a Creative Writing MFA at the University of South Carolina. Not only am I passionate about writing and storytelling, I am an actor, designer, director, and stage manager. I always get excited when my passions intersect.

Write!
My English BA is focused on the writing tract, so I have academic and working experience with creative writing. My academic focus has been fiction, but I also love playwriting and poetry. I’ve written a couple one-acts and ten minute pieces
Act!
When I’m not writing, the stage is where I’d like to be! I had the honor of playing Zoey in The Niceties (2021 – Furman), Bailiff in Project Dawn (2023 – Furman – Voice Acting), Arlene in Screentime (2024 – Furman), and Shelby in a short film entitled I Had a Dream About Us.
Stage Manage!
Most recently, I was the stage manager for The Prom (2023 – Furman). Prior to that, I had the honor of being the assistant stage manager for Pipeline (2022 – Warehouse Theatre) and On the Verge (2022 – Furman). On the left is the company photo for The Prom!
Design!
I’ve had the honor of sound designing two shows (technically three). Never Swim Alone (2022 – Furman), The Dumb Waiter, and The Lesson (2023 – Furman). The Dumb Waiter and The Lesson are both one act shows and were performed back to back on the same performance nights. The company photo for that production is on the right!
Direct!
I had the opportunity this year to direct two short scripts that I wrote. Bringing them to life on stage was a fulfilling and wonderful experience!
